Aeroscraft “Dragon Dream”

TECHNOLOGY, TRANSPORT |

A new prototype airship is currently being built and tested right in our own backyard of Orange County, Ca. The “Aeroscraft” dubbed the “Dragon Dream” is being made by Worldwide Aeros Corp, which was founded by Igor Pasternak, and is currently housed in the large old Tustin Airbase hangers right next to the District Shopping Center. We’ve always marveled at those structures and wondered what it looked like inside. Now we’re able to get a glimpse and also see that they are currently being put to good use.

The Aeroscraft was developed to provide a new way of transporting heavy/oversized cargo. It uses a self-ballasting helium system that allows it to ascend and descend vertically from any surface. It would take only about a third as much fuel as conventional aircrafts, have no need for runways, and can hover over and deploy cargo in areas that traditional aircrafts could not currently reach.

More information regarding the Aeroscraft can be found on their site. We’re keeping an eye out to see if we can spot the thing in action as testing is scheduled to continue at the Tustin base. You can also check on progress via their facebook page.
