Proposed Cave Colonization on Mars

SPACES, STRUCTURE |

ZA Architects have recently released a proposal where humans could live on Mars via underground caverns built using sola-powered robots. Because much of Mars is composed of Basalt, the idea is that the robots would analyze areas where the basalt rock has formed natural hexagonal columns and create high-ceilinged caves, and also use the basalt fibers to create floors. A fascinating concept we’d love to see realized! Check out more via PSFK, Dezeen, and ZA Architects
